The funeral of the late Mrs. Ellen McNamara, of Nerriga, who died on Sunday night last, took place at Nerriga on Tuesday. The high esteem in which the deceased and her family are held in the community was reflected in the large attendance. Residents came from all surrounding districts to pay their last token of respect to the deceased lady. Born at Nerriga 79 years ago, she resided there all her life. Her husband
died five years ago. The service at the graveside was impressively conducted by the Rev. Father Dwyer, of Araluen, owing to an accident to the parish priest, the Rev. Father Vaughan, preventing his attendance. The deceased leaves a family of four sons and five daughters to mourn her loss, viz., Messrs. M. J., John, Thomas and Joseph B. McNamara, Mesdames M. McGrath, M. Kennedy, L. F. Jarman, A. Haughton, and Miss E. McNamara. Like most of the
pioneers of settlement in this country, the deceased, it will be seen, did her duty in supplying her fair share of population. In addition to the above one of her daughters (Mrs. John Kennedy) is dead.
